Punishment for Zina

SUMMARY: A man confessed to committing Zina and was stoned to death, but the Prophet spoke well of him but did not pray for him.

It was narrated from Jabir bin Abdullah that: a man from Aslam came to the Prophet and confessed to committing Zina, and he turned away from him. He admitted it again, and he turned away from him. He admitted it again, and he turned away from him. Then when he had testified against himself four times, the Prophet said: "Are your crazy?" He said: "No". He said: "Have you been marred?" he said: "Yes". So the Prophet ordered that he be stoned. When the stones struck him, he ran away, but they caught up with him and stoned him and he died. Then the Prophet spoke well of him but he did not pray for him. (Shih)

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect Islamic Law
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a man from Aslam who committed zina, which is an act of adultery. He confessed four times and the Prophet asked if he was crazy, to which he replied no. The Prophet then ordered that he be stoned as punishment for his crime. When the stones struck him, he ran away but they caught up with him and stoned him until he died. Despite this punishment, the Prophet still spoke well of him but did not pray for his soul after death. This hadith teaches us that although we should punish those who commit wrongdoings according to Islamic law, we should still speak kindly of them even after their punishment has been carried out. It also teaches us that it is important to repent before Allah in order to receive His mercy and forgiveness even if one has committed a sin or crime against another person or society as a whole.
