The Lasting Legacy of Deeds

SUMMARY: The dead person is followed by three things: his family, wealth and deeds. Two of them come back while only his deeds remain.

It was narrated that 'Abdullah bin Abi Bakr said: "I heard Anas bin Malik say: The Messenger of Allah said: 'The dead person is followed by three: His family, his wealth and his deeds. Then two of them come back: His family and his wealth, and there remain only his deeds"'.

QUICK LESSONS:
Do good deeds
EXPLANATIONS:
When a person passes away, they are followed by three things; their family, their wealth and their deeds. Of these three, two will return to the world; the family and the wealth. However, what remains with the deceased is only their deeds which will be judged in the afterlife. This hadith emphasizes that it is important for us to focus on our actions as they are what will remain with us after we pass away from this world. We should strive to do good deeds in order to ensure that we have a lasting legacy even after our death.
