Death of Believers & Evildoers

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the death of a believer and an evildoer, and how it affects the people, land, trees and animals.

It was narrated that Abu Qatadah said: "We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah when a funeral appeared. The Messenger of Allah said: 'He is relieved and others are relieved of him. When the believer dies he is relieved of the calamities, hardships and troubles of this world, and when the evildoer dies, the people, the land, the trees and the animals are relieved of him"'.
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ وَهْبِ بْنِ أَبِي كَرِيمَةَ الْحَرَّانِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، - وَهُوَ الْحَرَّانِيُّ - عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ، حَدَّثَنِي زَيْدٌ، عَنْ وَهْبِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ، عَنْ مَعْبَدِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ، عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ، قَالَ كُنَّا جُلُوسًا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ إِذْ طَلَعَتْ جَنَازَةٌ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ مُسْتَرِيحٌ وَمُسْتَرَاحٌ مِنْهُ الْمُؤْمِنُ يَمُوتُ فَيَسْتَرِيحُ مِنْ أَوْصَابِ الدُّنْيَا وَنَصَبِهَا وَأَذَاهَا وَالْفَاجِرُ يَمُوتُ فَيَسْتَرِيحُ مِنْهُ الْعِبَادُ وَالْبِلاَدُ وَالشَّجَرُ وَالدَّوَابُّ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the death of a believer and an evildoer. When a believer dies, they are relieved from all the calamities, hardships and troubles that come with this world. On the other hand, when an evildoer dies, people are relieved from them as well as land, trees and animals. This hadith teaches us to be kind to one another so that we can be relieved from our troubles in this world as well as in the hereafter. It also teaches us to stay away from evil doers so that we can have peace on earth for ourselves and others around us.
