Sunan an-Nasai 1909 (Book 21, Hadith 92) #16520
The Difference Between Righteous and Unrighteous People

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the difference between a righteous person and an unrighteous person when they are placed on the bier.

Abu Sa'eed Al-Khudri said: "The Messenger of Allah said: 'When the Janazah (prepared body) is placed (on the bier) and the men lift it onto their shoulders, if it was a righteous person it says: Take me quickly, take me quickly. And if it was not a righteous person it says: Woe to me! Where are you taking me! And everything hears its voice except man, and if man heard it he would faint"'.

QUICK LESSONS:
Strive for righteousness in life; Respect others; Be humble before Allah's creations; Listen carefully to what people have to say about death .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the difference between a righteous person and an unrighteous one. When a body is placed on the bier for burial, if it was of a righteous person then it will say “Take me quickly” while if it was of an unrighteous one then it will say “Woe to me! Where are you taking me!” This shows that even in death there is a distinction between those who were good in life and those who were bad. It also serves as reminder to us that we should strive to be good people so that even after our death we can be remembered with respect. Furthermore, this hadith teaches us that everything has its own voice except man; if man heard these voices he would faint from shock. This implies how powerful Allah's creations are compared to humans.
