Clothing Al-Abbas with the Shirt of Abdullah bin Ubayy

SUMMARY: Al-Abbas asked the Ansar for a garment to clothe him in, and they found a shirt that belonged to Abdullah bin Ubayy and clothed him in it.

It was narrated that 'Amr heard Jabir say: "And Al-'Abass was in Al-Madinah, and he asked the Ansar for a garment to clothe him in, but they could not find a shirt that would fit him except the shirt of 'Abdullah bin Ubayy, so they clothed him in it".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how Al-‘Abbas, who was in Madinah at the time, asked the Ansar for a garment to clothe him in. However, they could not find any shirt that would fit him except for one belonging to ‘Abdullah bin Ubayy. So they clothed him with it. This hadith teaches us about generosity and kindness towards others as well as humility. The Ansar were willing to give up their own possessions so that someone else could be clothed properly even though he was not from their tribe or family. It also shows us how important it is to be humble and accept help from others when we need it without feeling ashamed or embarrassed about our situation. Furthermore, this hadith also teaches us about being generous towards those who are less fortunate than ourselves by giving them what we have even if it is something small like clothing or food items.
