Eating Meat in Mina

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) gave permission to the people of Mina to eat and take meat with them for more than three days.

Narrated Ibn Juraij: 'Ata' said, "I heard Jabir bin 'Abdullah saying, 'We never ate the meat of the Budn for more than three days of Mina. Later, the Prophet gave us permission by saying: 'Eat and take (meat) with you. So we ate (some) and took (some) with us'. " I asked 'Ata', "Did Jabir say (that they went on eating the meat) till they reached Medina?" 'Ata' replied, "No".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's permission for the people of Mina to eat and take meat with them for more than three days. It was narrated by Ibn Juraij that Ata heard Jabir bin 'Abdullah saying that they never ate the meat of Budn for more than three days in Mina. Later on, the Prophet Muhammad gave them permission by saying "Eat and take some with you". This hadith teaches us that it is permissible to eat and take food from a certain place if given permission by a religious authority figure such as a prophet or an Imam. It also teaches us that we should be mindful of our consumption habits and not overindulge in any one thing even if it is permissible.
