Sunan an-Nasai 1862 (Book 21, Hadith 45) #16473
The Characteristics of a True Believer

SUMMARY: Striking one's cheeks, rending one's garment, and calling out in the manner of pre-Islamic times are not characteristics of a true believer.

It was narrated from 'Abdullah that the Prophet said: "He is not one of us who strikes his cheeks, rends his garment, and calls the calls of the Jahiliyyah".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us that true believers do not act in the same way as those who lived before Islam. Striking one’s cheeks, rending one’s garment and calling out in the manner of pre-Islamic times are all signs that someone is not a true believer. Instead, believers should strive to live their lives according to Islamic teachings and values. They should be patient when faced with difficulties and trust Allah for His mercy and guidance.
