The Reward of Extra Prayers

SUMMARY: Praying twelve rak'ahs in addition to the prescribed prayers will be rewarded with a house in Paradise.

It was narrated that Umm Habibah said: "Whoever prays twelve rak'ahs during the night and day apart from the prescribed prayers, Allah (SWT), the Mighty and Sublime, will build for him a house in Paradise".

QUICK LESSONS:
Perform 12 extra units of prayer each day

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith tells us that if we pray twelve rak’ahs apart from the five obligatory daily prayers, Allah will reward us with a house in paradise. A rak’ah is one unit of prayer and consists of standing, bowing and prostrating. Therefore, if we pray twelve extra units of prayer each day, Allah will reward us for our efforts by giving us a house in paradise. This hadith encourages Muslims to perform extra voluntary prayers as it is an act that pleases Allah and earns His rewards. It also reminds Muslims that their good deeds are not forgotten by Allah and He will always reward them for their efforts no matter how small they may seem.
