The Reward of Extra Prayers

SUMMARY: Praying twelve rak'ahs in addition to the prescribed prayers will result in a house being built for you in Paradise.

It was narrated that Umm Habibah said: "Whoever prays twelve rak'ahs during the night and day apart from the prescribed prayers, a house will be built for him in Paradise".

QUICK LESSONS:
Pray extra voluntary prayers
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith tells us that if we pray twelve rak’ahs apart from the five obligatory prayers, then Allah will reward us with a house in paradise. A rak’ah is one unit of prayer and consists of standing, bowing and prostrating. The five obligatory prayers are Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib and Isha. Therefore this hadith encourages us to pray extra voluntary prayers as it is an act that pleases Allah and results in great rewards such as a house being built for us in paradise.
