The hadith is about the practice of praying witr which is an optional prayer that Muslims can perform at night. It consists of an odd number of rak’ahs which are units of prayer consisting of standing up, bowing down and prostrating on the ground. According to this hadith, the Prophet Muhammad used to pray witr with five rak’ahs and would not sit except in the last one. This teaches us that we should be mindful when performing our prayers and take care to follow all its rules correctly as taught by our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ .
