Praying Witr Without Taslim

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to pray witr with either seven or five rak'ahs without separating them with the taslim.

Mansur reported from Al-Hakam, from Miqsam, from Ibn 'Abbas that Umm Salamah said: "The Messenger of Allah used to pray witr with seven or five (rak'ahs), not separating between them with the taslim".

QUICK LESSONS:
Follow in the footsteps of Prophet Muhammad PBUH , Perform extra prayers at night such as witrs , Recite verses from Quran during prayers .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's practice of praying witr. Witr is an extra prayer that Muslims perform at night after Isha prayer and before Fajar prayer. It consists of either seven or five rak'ahs which are units of prayer consisting of standing up straight, bowing down and prostrating on the ground in a certain order while reciting verses from the Quran and supplications to Allah. The Prophet Muhammad used to pray witr without separating between each rak'ah with a taslim which is saying "Peace be upon you" when ending a unit of prayer. This hadith teaches us that we should follow in the footsteps of our beloved prophet by praying witr as he did and not separating it with a taslim.
