The Odd Number of Rak'hs in Night Prayers

SUMMARY: Prayer at night should be done in pairs, and one extra rak'h should be added to make the total number of rak'hs odd.

It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin 'Umar that: The Messenger of Allah said: "Prayer at night is two by two, then when you want to finish, pray one rak'h which will make the total number that you prayed odd".

Pray two Rak'hs followed by an additional one making it odd numbered .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of prayer at night. It was narrated by Abdullah bin Umar that the Messenger of Allah said that prayer at night should be done in pairs, and then one extra rak’h should be added to make the total number odd. This means that if you pray two rak’ahs, you must add a third one; if you pray four, add a fifth; and so on. This is an important teaching from Prophet Muhammad as it encourages us to perform more prayers than what we are obligated to do. It also teaches us about discipline and dedication when it comes to our religious obligations. Furthermore, this hadith reminds us that even though we may not always feel like praying or doing something religious-related, we must still strive for excellence in our faith by going beyond what is required from us.
