Sunan an-Nasai 1643 (Book 20, Hadith 46) #16254
Praying with Energy and Resting When Tired

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ taught that one should pray as long as they have energy and if they get tired, they should sit down.

It was narrated from Anas bin Malik that: The Messenger of Allah entered the masjid and saw a rope tied between two pillars. He said: "What is this?" They said: "It is for Zainab when she prays; if she gets tired she holds on to it". The Prophet said: "Untie it. Let any one of you pray as long as he has energy, and if he gets tired let him sit down".

QUICK LESSONS:
Pray with energy until you are too tired then rest

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was once in the mosque when he noticed a rope tied between two pillars. He asked what it was for, and the people told him it was for Zainab to hold onto if she got tired while praying. The Prophet then instructed them to untie the rope, saying that each person should pray as long as they have energy and if they get tired, let them sit down. This hadith teaches us that we should strive to put our best effort into our prayers by praying with energy until we can no longer do so, at which point we can rest until we are able to continue again. It also teaches us not to give up on prayer even when it gets difficult or tiring; rather than relying on external aids such as ropes or chairs, we must rely on ourselves and our own strength of faith in order to complete our prayers successfully.
