Sunan an-Nasai 1628 (Book 20, Hadith 31) #16239
The Prophet's Night Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to pray 'Isha, recite tasbih, and then sleep for as long as he had prayed. He would then wake up and pray for the same amount of time he had slept until dawn.

Ya'la bin Mamlak said that he asked Umm Salamah about the prayer of the Messenger of Allah and she said: "He used to pray 'Isha, then he would recite tasbih, then after that he would pray whatever Allah (SWT) willed (he should pray) of night prayer. Then he would go and sleep for as long as he had prayed. Then he would get up from sleep and pray for as long as he had slept, and this last prayer of his would continue until dawn".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the prayer of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him. It is narrated by Ya'la bin Mamlak who asked Umm Salamah about the prayer of the Messenger of Allah. She said that he used to pray 'Isha, then recite tasbih which is a form of glorification to God Almighty. After that, he would pray whatever Allah willed him to do in terms of night prayer. Then he would go and sleep for as long as he had prayed before sleeping. When it was time for him to wake up again, he would get up from his sleep and pray for an equal amount of time that he had slept before waking up again until dawn came around. This shows us how devoted our beloved Prophet was in his worship towards God Almighty even during times when most people are asleep or resting such as at night or early morning hours like dawn or fajr prayers. It also teaches us how important it is to dedicate ourselves in worshipping God Almighty no matter what time it may be because we never know when our last breath may come so we should always strive to make sure we are doing good deeds all throughout our lives so that we can be prepared on judgement day when all will be held accountable for their actions here on earth!
