QUICK LESSONS:
Strive to be good role models for our community and set examples of piety and righteousness whenever possible
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how the Prophet Muhammad, Abu Bakr, and Umar used to pray before delivering a sermon on the day of Eid. It is important to note that this was their practice and not necessarily an obligation for all Muslims. On the day of Eid, Muslims gather in a large congregation in order to perform salat together. After performing salat, they listen to a sermon or khutbah which is delivered by an Imam or religious leader. This hadith shows us that even though it was not obligatory for them at that time, these three great figures still chose to pray before delivering their khutbah as an example for others. This teaches us that we should strive to be good role models for our community and set examples of piety and righteousness whenever possible.
