Reciting Verses During Jumu'ah Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to recite two verses from the Quran during Jumu'ah prayer.

It was narrated that Samurah said: "The Messenger of Allah used to recite in Jumu'ah prayer: 'Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High'(Al-A'la 87) and: 'Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (ie the Day of Resurrection)?"(Al-Ghashiyah 88)
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي مَعْبَدُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ عُقْبَةَ، عَنْ سَمُرَةَ، قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ يَقْرَأُ فِي صَلاَةِ الْجُمُعَةِ بِـ ‏{‏ سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الأَعْلَى ‏}‏ وَ{‏ هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْغَاشِيَةِ

EXPLANATIONS:
Every Friday, Muslims gather for a special prayer called Jumu’ah. During this prayer, the Prophet Muhammad would recite two verses from the Quran. The first verse is “Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High” and it is found in chapter 87 of the Quran. The second verse is “Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming?” and it can be found in chapter 88 of the Quran. These verses remind us that Allah is powerful and that we should always remember Him and His greatness.
