Reciting Verses During Friday Prayers

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to recite certain verses from the Quran during his Friday prayers.

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas that : During the Subh prayer on Friday, the Messenger of Allah used to recite: "Alif-Lam-Mim. The Revelation"(As-Sajdah 32) and: "Has there not been over man,"(Al-Insan 76) and in Jumu'ah prayer he would recite Al-Jumu'ah (62) and Al-Munafiqin (63).
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى الصَّنْعَانِيُّ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي مُخَوَّلٌ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ مُسْلِمًا الْبَطِينَ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ فِي صَلاَةِ الصُّبْحِ ‏{‏ الم * تَنْزِيلُ ‏}‏ وَ‏{‏ هَلْ أَتَى عَلَى الإِنْسَانِ ‏}‏ وَفِي صَلاَةِ الْجُمُعَةِ بِسُورَةِ الْجُمُعَةِ وَالْمُنَافِقِينَ

EXPLANATIONS:
Every Friday, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), would lead his followers in prayer and recite certain verses from the Quran. These verses included “Alif Lam Mim”, “Has there not been over man”, “Al Jumu’ah” and “Al Munafiqin”. This was done to remind Muslims of their faith and to encourage them to stay true to it. It also serves as a reminder that Allah is always watching us and that we should strive for righteousness in our lives. Furthermore, this hadith teaches us that we should take time out of our day on Fridays specifically for prayer and reflection on our faith so that we can stay connected with Allah.
