Prayer at Mina

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the first three caliphs offered two rak'at of prayer at Mina.

Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Umar: Allah's Messenger offered a two-rak'at prayer at Mina. Abu Bakr, 'Umar and 'Uthman, (during the early years of his caliphate) followed the same practice.
حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ بِمِنًى رَكْعَتَيْنِ، وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ وَعُثْمَانُ صَدْرًا مِنْ خِلاَفَتِهِ‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith tells us about the practice of offering two rak’ats of prayer at a place called Mina. It was narrated by Abdullah bin Umar who was one of the companions of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The first three caliphs Abu Bakr, Umar and Uthman also followed this practice. This hadith teaches us that we should follow in the footsteps of our beloved Prophet and his companions in matters related to worshiping Allah Almighty. We should strive to offer prayers regularly as it is an important part of our faith and it brings us closer to Allah Almighty. We should also try to visit places like Mina where we can offer special prayers for blessings from Allah Almighty.
