Sunan an-Nasai 1237 (Book 13, Hadith 59) #15845
Shortening Prayers and Prostration

SUMMARY: The Prophet (PBUH) was angry when he heard that someone had questioned the shortening of his prayer. He then proceeded to pray an extra rak'ah and prostrated twice after it.

It was narrated that Imran bin Husain said: "The Messenger of Allah said the salam after three rak'ahs of 'Asr, then he entered his house. A man called Al-Khibaq stood up and said: 'Has the prayer been shortened, O Messenger of Allah?' He came out angry, dragging his upper garment and said: 'Is he speaking the truth?' They said: 'Yes'. So he stood and prayed that rak'ah, then he said the salam, then prostrated twice, then he said the salam (again)".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of prayer in Islam and how it should not be shortened or neglected. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was angered when he heard that someone had questioned him for shortening his prayer. He then proceeded to pray an extra rak'ah and prostrated twice after it as a sign of humility before Allah SWT. This teaches us that we should always strive to perform our prayers with full concentration and dedication, without cutting any corners or neglecting any part of the prayer. We must also remember to show humility before Allah SWT by prostrating ourselves in reverence whenever we can.
