Sunan an-Nasai 1230 (Book 13, Hadith 52) #15838
Completing Prayers

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ was reminded by Dhul-Shimalain bin 'Amr to complete the two rak'ahs of prayer that he had missed.

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: "The Messenger of Allah prayed Zuhr or 'Asr and said the taslim following two rak'ahs and left. Dhul-Shimalain bin 'Amr said to him: 'Has the prayer been shortened or did you forget?" The Prophet said: 'What is Dhul-Yadain saying?' They said: 'He is speaking the truth, O Messenger of Allah '. So he led them in praying the two rak'ahs that he missed".

QUICK LESSONS:
Complete your prayers according to Allah SWT's instructions

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of completing one's prayers. It was narrated by Abu Hurairah that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ prayed Zuhr or 'Asr and said the taslim following two rak'ahs and left. However, Dhul-Shimalain bin 'Amr reminded him to complete the two rak'ahs of prayer that he had missed. The Prophet ﷺ then asked what Dhul-Yadain was saying and they confirmed it to be true. He then led them in praying the two rak'ahs that he missed. This hadith teaches us about how important it is for Muslims to complete their prayers as prescribed by Allah SWT in order for them to be accepted and rewarded accordingly. It also shows us how we should remind each other when we forget something or make a mistake so that we can correct it together as a community of believers who are striving towards righteousness together.
