Prostration After Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) led a prayer of two rak'ahs and after finishing the prayer, he said the takbir and prostrated twice while sitting before saying the taslim.

It was narrated that Abdullah bin Buhainah said: "The Messenger of Allah led us in praying two rak'ahs, then he stood up and did not sit, and the people stood up with him. When he finished the prayer, and we were waiting for him to say the taslim, he said the takbir and prostrated twice while sitting, before the taslim. Then he said the taslim".

QUICK LESSONS:
Remember Allah even after your prayers are finished by saying 'takbir'.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith tells us about a practice that was done by Prophet Muhammad during his prayers. He led his followers in praying two units of prayer, known as rak’ahs. After completing the prayer, instead of saying ‘taslim’ to end it, he said ’takbir’ which means ’God is great!’ and then prostrated twice while sitting down. This shows us that we should always remember God even after our prayers are finished and not just rush to end them without giving thanks to Him for His blessings.
