EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith emphasizes the importance of saying salutations to Allah and His Prophet Muhammad ﷺ when sitting. It is narrated from Hittan bin Abdullah that they prayed with Abu Musa and he said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “When you are sitting then let the first words that any of you says be At Tahiyyatu Lillahi Was Salawatu Wat Tayyibat, As Salamu Alaika Ayyuha Nabi Wa Rahmatullah Wa Barakatuh, As Salamu Alaina Wa Ala Ibad Illahis Salihin, Ashhad An La Illaha Illallah Wa Ashhad Anna Muhammadan Abduhu Wa Rasuluh”. This phrase translates to “Compliments, prayers and pure words are due to Allah. Peace be upon you O Prophet and mercy of Allah SWT and his blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous slaves of Allah SWT. I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped except for Allah SWT and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger”. It is important for Muslims to remember this phrase as it serves as a reminder for us all to show respect towards our Creator by sending peace upon Him before we start any conversation or activity in our lives. We should also remember this phrase in order to show respect towards our beloved prophet ﷺ who taught us how we should live our lives according to Islam's teachings so we can attain success in both worlds - this world as well as hereafter!
