Sunan an-Nasai 1156 (Book 12, Hadith 128) #15764
The Prayer of Abu Hurairah

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the prayer of Abu Hurairah, may Allah (SWT) be pleased with him, and how it closely resembled that of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

It was narrated from Abu Bakr bin 'Abdur-Rahman and from Abu Salamah bin 'Abdur-Rahman that: They prayed behind Abu Hurairah, may Allah (SWT) be pleased with him, and he when he bowed, he said the Takbir, when he raised his head he said: 'Sami Allahu liman hamidah, Rabbana wa lakal-hamd. Then he prostrated and said the takbir, then he raised his head and said the takbir, then he said the takbir when he stood up following that Rak'ah. Then he said: 'By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, I am the one among you whose prayer most closely resembles that of the Messenger of Allah . And this is how he continued to pray until he left this world".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the prayer of one of Prophet Muhammad's companions, Abu Huraira. He was known for his piety and devotion to God. He would pray in a way that closely resembled that of Prophet Muhammad himself. In this hadith, he explains how he prayed until his death. He would say a takbir when bowing down in prayer, when raising his head after bowing down, and when standing up after completing a rak'a or unit in prayer. At the end he said "By the One in Whose Hand is my soul," meaning by God Almighty Himself, "I am the one among you whose prayer most closely resembles that of the Messenger of Allah." This shows us how devoted he was to following Prophet Muhammad's example as closely as possible even though they were not alive at the same time. It also teaches us to strive for excellence in our own prayers by trying to emulate Prophet Muhammad's example as much as we can.
