Prayer Instructions of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught the prayer to his companions and instructed them to hold their knees while bowing.

It was narrated that Abdullah said: "The Messenger of Allah taught us the prayer. He stood up and said the takbir, and when he wanted to bow, he put his hands together and put his hands between his knees and bowed". News of that reached Sa'd and he said: "My brother has spoken the truth. We used to do that, then we were commanded to do this," meaning to hold the knees.

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Abdullah speaks about the instructions given by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) regarding prayer. He taught his companions how to perform salat and when they were about to bow down in ruku they were commanded to hold their knees. This is a sign of humility and submission before Allah Almighty. It also teaches us that we should follow the teachings of our beloved prophet without any hesitation or doubt as he was sent by Allah as a mercy for all mankind. We should strive hard to practice what he has taught us so that we can attain His pleasure and forgiveness in this world and hereafter.
