Reciting the Quran with Elongation

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to recite the Quran in a melodious and elongated manner.

It was narrated that Qatadah said: "I asked Anas: 'How did the Messenger of Allah recite Quran?' He said: 'He used to elongate the sounds'."
أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَنَسًا كَيْفَ كَانَتْ قِرَاءَةُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ قَالَ كَانَ يَمُدُّ صَوْتَهَ مَدًّا

This hadith speaks of the importance of reciting the Quran in a melodious and elongated manner. It was narrated by Qatadah that he asked Anas how did the Messenger of Allah recite the Quran. Anas replied that he used to elongate his sounds while reciting it. This hadith teaches us that we should take our time while reciting the holy book, as it is not only about reading but also understanding its meaning and reflecting on its teachings. We should strive to make our recitation beautiful so that we can appreciate its beauty even more.
