Prayers Should Not be Too Lengthy

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ warned Mu'adh against making his prayers too long, and suggested that he recite certain verses instead.

It was narrated that Jabir said: "Muadh stood up and prayed Isha', and made it lengthy. The Prophet said: 'Do you want to cause hardship to the people, O Mu'adh; do you want to cause hardship to the people O Mu'adh? Why didn't you recite 'Glorify the Name of your Lord Most High' or Ad-Duha or; 'When the heaven is cleft asunder?"

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of not making one's prayer too lengthy. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was speaking to Mu'adh and warning him against causing hardship to people by making his prayers too long. He then suggested that Mu'adh recite certain verses from the Quran such as "Glorify the Name of your Lord Most High" or Ad-Duha or "When the heaven is cleft asunder". This hadith teaches us that we should not make our prayers overly lengthy and should instead focus on reciting meaningful verses from the Quran. We should also remember to be mindful of other people's time when praying in congregation so as not to cause them any hardship.
