Reciting Quran During Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to recite the Umm Al-Quran and two surahs in the first two rak'ahs of Zuhr and 'Asr, and in the last two with Umm Al-Quran, making the first rak'ah lengthy.

It was narrated from Abdullah bin Abi Qatadah that his father said: "The Messenger of Allah used to recite the Umm Al-Quran and two surahs in the first two rak'ahs of Zuhr and 'Asr, and in the last two with Umm Al-Quran, and he would make us hear a verse sometimes, and he used to make the first rak'ah lengthy".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how Prophet Muhammad used to recite from the Quran during his prayers. He would recite from Umm Al-Quran and two surahs in each of his four rak'ahs for Zuhr and 'Asr prayers. He would make sure that he recited a verse sometimes so that others could hear it as well. He also made sure that he made his first rak'ah longer than usual. This hadith teaches us about how important it is to read from the Quran during our prayers as it was something practiced by Prophet Muhammad himself. It also teaches us about being mindful of our prayer times by making sure we take enough time for each prayer so we can properly focus on what we are reading or reciting from the holy book of Allah SWT.
