The Importance of Prostration in Worship

SUMMARY: Prostration is an important part of worship and should be done with the recitation of certain verses.

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: "We prostrated with the Messenger of Allah during: When the heaven is split asunder and Read! In the Name of your Lord".
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ حَزْمٍ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ سَجَدْنَا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ فِي ‏{‏ إِذَا السَّمَاءُ انْشَقَّتْ ‏}‏ وَ ‏{‏ اقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ

EXPLANATIONS:
Prostration is an important part of worship in Islam, and it should be done with the recitation of certain verses. This hadith was narrated by Abu Hurairah, who said that he prostrated with the Messenger of Allah when they heard a verse from the Quran being recited. This verse was “When the heaven is split asunder and Read! In the Name of your Lord”. It teaches us that we should always remember to prostrate when we hear this verse being read, as it is a sign of respect for Allah and His words. We must also remember to recite these words while prostrating, as this will help us to focus on our prayer and show our devotion to Allah.
