Sunan an-Nasai 942 (Book 11, Hadith 67) #15550
The Value of Learning the Quran

SUMMARY: Learning the Quran is like owning a hobbled camel, if you pay attention to it, you will keep it, but if you let go of it, it will go away.

It was narrated from Ibn Umar that: The Messenger of Allah said: "The one who learns the Quran is like the owner of a hobbled camel. If he pays attention to it, he will keep it, but if he releases it, it will go away".

QUICK LESSONS:
Pay attention to what you learn in the Quran

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us that learning the Qur'an is like owning a hobbled camel. A hobbled camel is one that has been tied up and cannot run away. Similarly, when we learn the Qur'an and pay attention to its teachings, we can keep hold of its knowledge and wisdom. However, if we do not pay attention to what we have learned or take our time with understanding its teachings then this knowledge may slip away from us just as a released camel would run away from its owner. This hadith teaches us that learning the Qur'an requires dedication and effort in order for us to benefit from its teachings.
