Reciting Fatihatil-Kitab for Valid Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught that one must recite the opening chapter of the Quran, or more, in order to perform a valid prayer.

It was narrated that Ubadah bin As-Samit said: "The Messenger of Allah said: "There is no Salah for one who does not recite Fatihatil-Kitab or more'."
أَخْبَرَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ، قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ، عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ لاَ صَلاَةَ لِمَنْ لَمْ يَقْرَأْ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ فَصَاعِدًا
