Reciting Fatihatil-Kitab for Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ taught that reciting the opening chapter of the Quran is a necessary part of prayer.

It was narrated from Ubadah bin As-Samit that : The Prophet said: "There is no Salah for one who does not recite Fatihatil-Kitab".
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ، عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ قَالَ ‏ "‏ لاَ صَلاَةَ لِمَنْ لَمْ يَقْرَأْ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ

This hadith teaches us that it is important to recite the opening chapter of the Quran, known as Fatihatil-Kitab, when performing prayer. The Prophet Muhammad taught this to his companion Ubadah bin As-Samit and it has been passed down through generations since then. It is important to recite this chapter in order for our prayers to be accepted by Allah. This hadith also teaches us about being mindful and conscious during our prayers, as we should be focused on what we are saying and doing while praying. Additionally, this hadith reminds us that prayer is an act of worship which requires dedication and focus in order for it to be accepted by Allah.
