Sunan an-Nasai 906 (Book 11, Hadith 31) #15514
Prayer Without Opening Invocation

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his companions Abu Bakr and Umar leading prayer without reciting the opening invocation.

It was narrated that Anas bin Malik said: "The Messenger of Allah led us in prayer, and we did not hear him recite: In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. And Abu Bakr and Umar led us in prayer and we did not hear it from them either".

QUICK LESSONS:
Be mindful when praying; Recite all parts correctly; Continue with your prayers even if you forget something during them; Remember Allah's blessings upon you while praying.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the importance of prayer in Islam, as it was narrated by Anas bin Malik that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) led his companions in prayer without reciting the opening invocation. Similarly, Abu Bakr and Umar also led their companions in prayer without reciting this invocation. This shows that although it is important to recite this invocation before beginning a prayer, it is not necessary for one to do so if they forget or are unable to do so. It teaches us that even if we forget something during our prayers, we should still continue with our prayers as Allah will still accept them. Furthermore, this hadith also serves as a reminder for us to be mindful of our prayers and ensure that we recite all parts of them correctly.
