Learning How to Pray with the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) teaching Ibn Abbas how to pray.

It was narrated that Ibn Abbas said: "I prayed with the Messenger of Allah and I stood on his left. He took hold of me with his left hand and made me stand on his right".
أَخْبَرَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ أَبِي سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ فَقُمْتُ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ فَأَخَذَنِي بِيَدِهِ الْيُسْرَى فَأَقَامَنِي عَنْ يَمِينِهِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's teachings on prayer and worship. It was narrated by Ibn Abbas that he prayed with the Messenger of Allah and stood on his left side. The Prophet then took hold of him with his left hand and made him stand on his right side. This shows us that it is important to learn how to pray from a knowledgeable source such as a teacher or an Imam in order for us to do it correctly. It also teaches us that we should be humble when learning something new and not be too proud or stubborn when being taught by someone else. Furthermore, this hadith also reminds us of the importance of prayer in our lives as Muslims and how we should strive to make sure we are doing it correctly according to Islamic teachings.
