Compassion and Mercy in Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ showed compassion and mercy by shortening his prayer when he heard a child crying, so as not to cause hardship for the mother.

It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin Abi Qatadah, from his father that the Prophet said: "I stand in prayer, then I hear a child crying, so I make my prayer brief, because I do not want to cause hardship for his mother".

QUICK LESSONS:
Show kindness towards others even in your own religious practices

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was known for his compassion and mercy towards all people. This hadith is an example of this quality, as it shows how the Prophet ﷺ shortened his prayer when he heard a child crying. This was done out of consideration for the mother who may have been struggling to take care of her child while also trying to pray. By shortening his prayer, the Prophet ﷺ showed that he cared about both the mother's religious obligations and her need to take care of her child. This hadith teaches us that we should always be considerate of others' needs and show them kindness even in our own religious practices.
