Travelling with Etiquette

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) advised that when travelling, one should call the Adhan and Iqamah and let the older person lead the prayer.

It was narrated that Malik bin Al-Huwairith said: "I came to the Messenger of Allah with a cousin of mine" - once he said, "with a friend of mine" - and he said: 'When you travel, call the Adhan and Iqamah, and let the older of you lead the prayer'."

QUICK LESSONS:
Call for Adhan & Iqamah & let an elder lead in prayer whenever you travel .

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Malik bin Al-Huwairith speaks about etiquette while travelling. It is reported that he came to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ with a friend or cousin of his, and the Prophet ﷺ advised him to call for Adhan and Iqamah when travelling, and let the older person lead in prayer. Adhan is a call made before prayer which announces its commencement, while Iqamah is a similar call made just before beginning of prayer. This hadith teaches us that even during travel we should not forget our religious obligations such as praying on time; it also teaches us respect for elders by letting them lead in prayers. Furthermore, it encourages us to be mindful of our actions even when away from home or on journeys as we are still accountable for our deeds wherever we go.
