Praying in the Presence of Others

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) prayed facing a short spear while people, animals and women passed by.

It was narrated from Awn bin Abi Juhaifah, from his father that, the Messenger of Allah went out in a red Hullah, and he set up a short spear (Anaza) and prayed facing toward it, while dogs, women and donkeys were passing beyond it.

QUICK LESSONS:
Pray with focus even if there are distractions around you .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to the importance of prayer and how it should be done even when there are distractions around us. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was seen praying with a short spear in front of him while dogs, women and donkeys were passing by. This shows that we should not let any distractions stop us from fulfilling our religious obligations. We must remain focused on our prayers no matter what is going on around us. It also teaches us to be respectful towards others regardless of their gender or species as the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) did not show any discrimination when he was praying in public.
