Riding a Donkey to Arafat

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) leading people in Arafat and two of his companions, Ibn Abbas and Al-Fadl, riding a donkey.

It was narrated that Ibn Abbas said: "Al-Fadl and I came riding a female donkey of ours, and the Messenger of Allah was leading the people at Arafat". Then he said something to that effect".We passed by part of the row, and then we dismounted and left the donkey grazing, and the Messenger of Allahdid not say anything to us".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's journey to Arafat with two of his companions, Ibn Abbas and Al-Fadl. They were riding on a female donkey when they passed by part of the row and dismounted to let it graze. The Prophet did not say anything to them which shows that he was tolerant towards their actions. This hadith teaches us that we should be respectful towards our elders even if they do not reprimand us for our actions as they may have other reasons for not doing so. We should also be mindful of our behaviour in public places as it reflects on how others view us and can affect how we are perceived by those around us.
