Prohibiting Poetry in the Masjid

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ forbade reciting poetry in the Masjid.

It was narrated from 'Amr bin Shu'aib, from his father, from his grandfather, that the Prophet forbade reciting poetry in the Masjid.
أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلاَنَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ نَهَى عَنْ تَنَاشُدِ الأَشْعَارِ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ

This hadith is about the Prophet's prohibition of reciting poetry in the mosque. It was narrated from 'Amr bin Shu'aib, from his father, from his grandfather that the Prophet forbade this action. We should not do anything that would distract us or others from worshipping Allah and remembering Him. We should also remember to be respectful of other people's beliefs and practices when we are inside a mosque so that everyone can feel comfortable while they pray or perform any other religious activities there.
