Prohibiting Sitting in Circles and Buying/Selling Before Jumu'ah Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ forbade sitting in circles and buying and selling in the Masjid on Fridays before Jumu'ah prayer.

It was narrated from 'Amr bin Shu'aib, from his father, from his grandfather, that the Prophet forbade sitting in circles on Friday before Jumu'ah prayer, and buying and selling in the Masjid.
أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلاَنَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ نَهَى عَنِ التَّحَلُّقِ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ قَبْلَ الصَّلاَةِ وَعَنِ الشِّرَاءِ وَالْبَيْعِ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the teachings of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ regarding what should be done or avoided before attending Jummah prayers. It is narrated by 'Amr bin Shu'aib, from his father, from his grandfather that the Prophet ﷺ prohibited people to sit together in circles or buy/sell anything inside a mosque on Fridays prior to attending Jummah prayers. This hadith teaches us that we should not engage ourselves with any activities which can distract us from our religious obligations such as attending congregational prayers at mosques. We must also remember that mosques are places of worship where we come to seek Allah's blessings so it is important for us to maintain its sanctity by avoiding any kind of business transactions inside it.
