The Capture of Thumamah bin Uthal

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad sent some horsemen to Najd and they brought back a man from Banu Hanifah called Thumamah bin Uthal, who was then tied to one of the pillars of the Masjid.

It was narrated from Sa'eed bin Abi Sa'eed that he heard Abu Hurairah say: "The Messenger of Allah sent some horsemen toward Najd, and they brought back a man from Banu Hanifah who was called Thumamah bin Uthal, the chief of the people of Al-Yamamah. Then he was tied to one of the pillars of the Masjid".
أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، يَقُولُ بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ خَيْلاً قِبَلَ نَجْدٍ فَجَاءَتْ بِرَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي حَنِيفَةَ يُقَالُ لَهُ ثُمَامَةُ بْنُ أُثَالٍ سَيِّدُ أَهْلِ الْيَمَامَةِ فَرُبِطَ بِسَارِيَةٍ مِنْ سَوَارِي الْمَسْجِدِ ‏.‏ مُخْتَصَرٌ
