Sunan an-Nasai 693 (Book 8, Hadith 6) #15301
Prophet Sulaiman's Prayer for Judgement, Dominion, and Freedom from Sin

SUMMARY: The hadith is about Prophet Sulaiman (Solomon) and his prayer to Allah for judgement, dominion, and freedom from sin.

It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin 'Amr that the Messenger of Allah said: "When Sulaiman bin Dawud finished building Bait Al-Maqdis, he asked Allah for three things: Judgement that was in harmony with His judgement, and he was given that. And he asked Allah for a dominion that no one after him would have, and he was given that. And when he finished building the Masjid he asked Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, that no one should come to it, intending only to pray there, but he would emerge free of sin as the day his mother bore him".

QUICK LESSONS:
Ask sincerely from your heart with faith in God's power; strive to do good deeds so you can be free of sins; trust in God's judgement; understand the importance of prayer .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith tells us about the story of Prophet Sulaiman (Solomon). He was a prophet who was given wisdom by Allah to build the Bait Al-Maqdis in Jerusalem. After he finished building it, he asked Allah for three things; judgement that was in harmony with His judgement, a dominion that no one after him would have, and that no one should come to it intending only to pray there but they would emerge free of sin as the day their mother bore them. This teaches us that if we ask sincerely from our hearts then Allah will answer our prayers. We should also strive to do good deeds so we can be free of sins like when we were born.
