Combining Prayers for Efficiency

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was in a hurry to travel but he delayed Maghrib prayer so that he could combine it with 'Isha' prayer.

It was narrated that Az-Zuhri said: "Salim told me that his father said: 'I saw the Messenger of Allah , when he was in a hurry to travel, delaying Maghrib so that he could combine it with 'Isha''."
أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ عُثْمَانَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا بَقِيَّةُ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ، ح وَأَنْبَأَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ، - وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ - عَنْ شُعَيْبٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي سَالِمٌ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِذَا أَعْجَلَهُ السَّيْرُ فِي السَّفَرِ يُؤَخِّرُ صَلاَةَ الْمَغْرِبِ حَتَّى يَجْمَعَ بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَ الْعِشَاءِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the importance of efficiency and combining prayers when travelling. It is narrated by Az-Zuhri who heard it from Salim, whose father saw the Prophet Muhammad PBUH doing this himself. The Prophet Muhammad PBUH was in a hurry to travel but still took the time to delay his Maghrib prayer so that he could combine it with 'Isha' prayer. This shows us how important efficiency is even when we are in a rush or have other commitments; we should always strive to make use of our time wisely and efficiently as much as possible. Furthermore, this hadith also teaches us about combining prayers when travelling which is allowed according to Islamic teachings; this helps save time and energy while still fulfilling our religious obligations at the same time.
