Sunan an-Nasai 559 (Book 6, Hadith 66) #15167
Praying at Sunrise and Sunset

SUMMARY: The hadith explains that the devil is present when the sun rises and sets, and it is forbidden to pray during those times.

It was narrated from 'Abdullah As-Sunabihi that the Messenger of Allah said: "The sun rises and with it the horn of the Shaitan, then when it is fully risen, he goes away. Then when it approaches the meridian he comes near to it, and when it has passed the zenith he goes away. Then when it is close to setting, he comes near to it, then when it has set, he goes away". And the Messenger of Allah forbade praying at those times.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains that the devil is present when the sun rises and sets, so it is forbidden to pray during those times. According to this hadith, when the sun rises in the morning, a horn of Satan sounds which signals his presence. When it reaches its zenith or highest point in the sky, he goes away. Then as it approaches sunset he comes near again until it has set completely. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ forbade praying at these times because of Satan's presence. It is important for Muslims to remember this teaching from Prophet Muhammad ﷺ so they can avoid praying during these times and protect themselves from any evil influence of Satan.
