Sunan an-Nasai 537 (Book 6, Hadith 44) #15145
Unique Prayer Time of the Muslims

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was willing to impose difficulty on his followers in order to lead them in prayer at a time that no other religion was praying.

It was narrated that Ibn 'Umar said: "We stayed in the Masjid one night waiting for the Messenger of Allah to pray 'Isha'. He came out to us when one-third of the night or more had passed, and he said when he came out: 'You are waiting for a prayer for which the followers of no other religion are waiting. Were it not that I would impose too much difficulty on my Ummah, I would have led them in prayer at this time'. Then he commanded the Mu'adhdhin to say the Iqamah and he prayed".

QUICK LESSONS:
Pray regularly with devotion and willingness even if it means imposing some difficulties upon oneself

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the importance of prayer for Muslims. It is narrated by Ibn 'Umar that one night they stayed in the Masjid waiting for the Prophet Muhammad to pray Isha. He came out when one-third of the night or more had passed and said that if it were not too difficult for his Ummah he would have led them in prayer at this time. This shows how much importance he placed on prayer and how willing he was to impose difficulty on his followers so they could pray at a unique time compared to other religions. He then commanded the Mu'adhdhin to say Iqamah and prayed himself. This hadith teaches us about the importance of prayer as well as how devoted we should be towards it even if it means imposing difficulty upon ourselves.
