Sunan an-Nasai 532 (Book 6, Hadith 39) #15140
Delaying Prayer for Ease of Ummah

SUMMARY: The Prophet (PBUH) delayed the Isha prayer one night until part of the night had passed, and Umar (RA) reminded him that the women and children had gone to sleep. The Prophet (PBUH) then came out with water dripping from his head, saying that this was the best time for Isha prayer but it would be too difficult for his Ummah.

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said: "The Prophet delayed 'Isha' one night until part of the night had passed. Then 'Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, got up and called out: 'The prayer, O Messenger of Allah! The women and children have gone to sleep'. Then the Messenger of Allah came out with water dripping from his head, saying: 'This is (the best) time (for 'Isha'), were it not that this would be too difficult for my Ummah'."

QUICK LESSONS:
Be considerate towards others when making decisions or taking actions; take into account how our actions will affect other people before going ahead with them .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ delayed Isha prayer one night until part of the night had passed. At this point, 'Umar ibn al-Khattab ﷺ reminded him that many people in his ummah were already asleep, including women and children. In response to this reminder, the Prophet ﷺ came out with water dripping from his head and said that although this was a good time to pray Isha, it would be too difficult for his ummah if he did so at this hour. This teaches us an important lesson about being considerate towards others when making decisions or taking actions; even if something is beneficial or good in itself, we should take into account how it will affect other people before going ahead with it.
