The hadith narrated by Salim from his father speaks about the Prophet Muhammad's practice of praying voluntary prayers while riding a mount. He would face whatever direction the mount was facing and also pray Witr in this manner. However, he did not offer prescribed prayers on it. This hadith teaches us that we should be mindful of our prayer even when we are travelling or busy with other activities and that we should make sure to perform our obligatory duties first before engaging in any voluntary acts of worship such as prayer or charity.
