Praying Voluntary Prayers While Riding a Mount

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to pray voluntary prayers while riding his mount, facing whatever direction it was facing, and he would also pray Witr in the same manner but not offer the prescribed prayers on it.

It was narrated from Salim that his father said: "The Messenger of Allah used to pray voluntary prayers (Usabbih) while riding his mount, facing whatever direction it was facing, and he would pray Witr likewise, but he would not offer the prescribed prayers on it".

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Salim from his father speaks about the Prophet Muhammad's practice of praying voluntary prayers while riding a mount. He would face whatever direction the mount was facing and also pray Witr in this manner. However, he did not offer prescribed prayers on it. This hadith teaches us that we should be mindful of our prayer even when we are travelling or busy with other activities and that we should make sure to perform our obligatory duties first before engaging in any voluntary acts of worship such as prayer or charity. It also shows us that even though we may be busy with worldly matters, we should still take time out for spiritual activities such as prayer which will bring us closer to Allah SWT and help us stay focused on our faith.
