Hajj-at-Tamattu' in the Time of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the Hajj-at-Tamattu' performed in the lifetime of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and how someone expressed their opinion regarding it.

Narrated 'Imran: We performed Hajj-at-Tamattu' in the lifetime of Allah's Messenger and then the Qur'an was revealed (regarding Hajj-at-Tamattu') and somebody said what he wished (regarding Hajj-at-Tamattu') according his own opinion.
حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مُطَرِّفٌ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ قَالَ تَمَتَّعْنَا عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ فَنَزَلَ الْقُرْآنُ قَالَ رَجُلٌ بِرَأْيِهِ مَا شَاءَ‏.‏

This hadith is about a practice called Hajj-at-Tamattu'. It was performed during the time of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). After this practice was done, a verse from the Qur'an was revealed which caused some people to express their own opinions on it. This hadith teaches us that we should be careful when expressing our opinions on matters related to religion as we may not have all the information or knowledge needed to make an informed decision.
