EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of being kind to animals. It was narrated by Kabshah bint Ka'ab bin Malik who said that Abu Qatadah entered her home and she poured some water for him for Wudu'. A cat then came and drank from it, so he tilted the vessel for it to drink. When he saw her looking at him in surprise, he asked if she was surprised and then told her that the Messenger of Allah said that cats are not impure but rather they are among the males and females who go around among us. This hadith teaches us to be kind to animals as they too have a place in our society. We should treat them with respect and kindness just like we would treat any other living creature. We should also remember that Allah has created all creatures on this earth with a purpose so we must show them mercy as well as compassion.
