Cleanliness After Dog Licking

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught that if a dog licks a person's vessel, the contents should be thrown away and the vessel should be washed seven times.

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: "The Messenger of Allah said: 'If a dog licks the vessel of any one of you, let him throw (the contents) away and wash it seven times'."

QUICK LESSONS:
Take responsibility for your own actions; throw away whatever is in your vessel after a dog has licked it; wash your vessel seven times after a dog has licked it.

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Abu Hurairah teaches us about cleanliness and hygiene. According to the hadith, if a dog licks any of our vessels, we must throw away whatever is in it and wash it seven times. This is because dogs are considered unclean animals according to Islamic teachings. Therefore, we must take extra precautions when dealing with them or anything they have touched in order to maintain cleanliness and hygiene. This hadith also teaches us about taking responsibility for our own actions; even though the dog may have caused contamination, it is up to us to take steps to ensure that our vessels remain clean and safe for use.
