Sunan an-Nasai 309 (Book 1, Hadith 310) #14916
Spitting Etiquette During Prayer

SUMMARY: When praying, one should not spit in front of them or to their right, but rather to their left or beneath their feet.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet said: "When any one of you prays, let him not spit in front of him or to his right, rather let him spit to his left or beneath his feet". Then the Prophet spat like this on his garment and rubbed it.

QUICK LESSONS:
Be mindful and respectful when engaging in prayer and other religious activities
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the etiquette of spitting while praying. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught that when someone is praying, they should not spit in front of them or to the right side, but instead they should spit either to the left side or beneath their feet. He then demonstrated this by spitting on his garment and rubbing it in. This teaches us that we must be mindful and respectful when we are engaging in prayer and other religious activities. We must also be aware of our surroundings and take care not to disturb others with our actions.
